In-Person Private Photography Lessons

I’ll meet you in person to discuss your goals and form a personally tailored plan to help you reach them. Generally, I try to identify a student’s understanding and confidence level in conversation and start the lesson with hands-on exercises designed to build confidence as quickly as possible. I also like to emphasize the process of pre-visualization and creative composition in any given subject as part of regular practice assignments.

My goal is to help you master the use of your camera, tune your creative eye, and gain confidence in your photography knowledge and skill sets.

For locations, I’ll meet you at a central public location that best fits what challenges you the most, usually the Village Gate or the Lamberton Conservatory. I’m also willing to discuss other locations in Monroe County.

A DSLR or Mirrorless SLR type camera capable of full manual control is required for the lesson. I am willing to teach the use of other types of cameras on a case-by-case basis. If you would like some free advice on purchasing your first camera or have other questions about my lesson offerings, please feel free to contact me via my contact form.

I give lessons around my existing schedule, which varies throughout the year.

Virtual Editing Lessons & Critiquing Sessions

I can join you on your computer virtually and with a phone conversation to demonstrate and teach photo editing and organization with applications such as Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and Capture One, along with many others.

Likewise, if you would like objective and constructive feedback on your work we may do so virtually with screen sharing or via the phone if you can provide your images for my review via email or link.

Photography Workshops

Twice per month, I offer a two-hour workshop to practice camera skills as a group exercise along with extra time for individual questions and photography discussions.

The general theme of each workshop is working in manual mode to better understand the usefulness of camera settings and to build confidence when working in other camera modes such as aperture & shutter priority, and program mode. I’ll also emphasize the important process of pre-visualization and creative composition in the art of photography.

A DSLR or Mirrorless SLR type camera capable of full manual control is required for the workshop. If you would like some free advice on purchasing your first camera or have other questions about workshop offerings, please contact me via my contact form.

If you are attending a workshop, please feel free to bring any questions you may have and I will address them as part of the group discussion.

The location and themes of the workshops may vary but will always be around Rochester on Saturday mornings starting at 9 am, every other weekend throughout the year.

Currently, I’m limiting the workshop size to 8 people. The cost of attendance is $40 per individual.
